A new strawberry festival in Lincoln is launching this May and the organizers recently held a poster contest to help promote the event.

Thomas Mazeika, a student at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville, was the inaugural winner and received a $1,000 scholarship toward continued art education.

The Lincoln Strawberry Festival will be held the weekend of May 17 through 19. It will be hosted by Harriet and Tyler Wegmeyer, who also own Wegmeyer Farm in Hamilton.

They purchased a nearby 50-acre farm at 18451 Taylor Road in Hamilton, which is the location of the festival and future Christmas Tree Farm.

They are planning an old-fashioned festival celebrating strawberries with the goal of raising money for local community organizations and nonprofits.

The event will kick off on May 17 with a denim gala and dinner. On May 18, there is a strawberry pancake breakfast in the morning, followed by U-pick strawberries throughout the day, live music, strawberry ice cream eating contest, strawberry pie eating contest, and much more.
